THE HISTORY:
Cedar Ridge has a long and colorful history. It began as a family
farm in the early 1900s. In 1963, it was converted into a basketball
camp by three innovators; brothers Bob and George Perry, and
coach, Ted Wilson. At that time, gas was 30 cents a gallon and
a new home sold for under $20,000. Larry Steele, a Portland
Trail Blazer, and member of the 1977 NBA world championship
team, first lectured at the camp in 1972. And in 1991, he purchased
the 28 acre facility. Larry opted to expand the function of
Cedar Ridge, and began renting it out to other sport teams,
group rentals, and hosting and facilitating company picnics.
Over the years, Larry's family has played an important role
in the growth of the business, as managers, camp directors and
behind-the-scenes supporters.
That
was nearly 20 years ago, and Larry still owns the property with
his wife, Britt.
THE INTENTION:
Now, we, (Larry and Britt) are dedicated to, day by day, increasing
the sustainability of the business, and dreaming of, someday,
attaining a zero carbon footprint. The journey has only begun,
and with the help of our staff (some of whom have been with
us for nearly 20 years!), we have expanded our outreach and
client base. We are glad to be part of the evolution of these
amazing times, and welcome all individuals who are inspired
by this beautiful environment. May we provide an environment
that inspires you... whatever your path may be.
